The trail opens on the Plaza del Triunfo in Seville, with the Catedral de Sevilla on one side and the walls of the old quarter on the other. From there the route runs into the narrow lanes behind the square and out towards the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla. As an outdoor escape game it uses the streets themselves, so most of what you do happens between one shaded corner and the next.
A team is two to five players on a single phone, and each of them is given a character with a role in the mission, so nobody is left following the others around. It suits families, friends, couples and colleagues. Seville is flat, but the old streets are narrow and crowded and the sun is heavy in the middle of the day, which makes an early or late start the sensible one. Groups larger than five play as separate teams. There is no guide and no timetable to keep to.
Four steps, and then Seville is the playing field.
Magnus has the stolen formulas and the whole game is the attempt to get them back. You crack codes, argue over riddles and set up photo tasks, with each character in the team carrying a piece the others need. The trail reaches the Iglesia Colegial del Divino Salvador and later the Puente de Isabel II, where the river marks the far edge of the search.
Several teams starting together makes it a race, and that is how it is normally used for team building. You can stop for a drink or a meal and resume the hunt afterwards, with the final clue leaving you back inside the old centre of Seville.
A square between the cathedral, the Alcázar and the Archivo de Indias, laid out around a monument raised after the earthquake of 1755.
The largest Gothic cathedral in the world, built from the late 14th century onwards on the site of the city's main mosque. Its bell tower, the Giralda, is the mosque's former minaret.

A narrow street of bars and taverns running towards the bullring, in the heart of the Arenal quarter.
Seville's bullring, begun in the 18th century and one of the oldest in Spain. Its whitewashed and ochre arcades stand beside the Guadalquivir.
An iron bridge over the Guadalquivir completed in the 1850s, linking the city centre with the Triana district. It is the oldest surviving iron bridge in Spain.
The eastern side of Plaza del Triunfo, facing the walls and gate of the Real Alcázar.
A convent church in the lanes east of the cathedral, one of several enclosed religious houses in this quarter.
A large baroque collegiate church completed in the early 18th century, standing on the site of Seville's earliest main mosque. Part of the old mosque courtyard survives as the Patio de los Naranjos.
A museum devoted to the history of flamenco dance, housed in an old town mansion near Plaza de la Alfalfa.
Seville's city hall, begun in the 16th century. Its older front facing Plaza de San Francisco is densely carved in plateresque style, while the Plaza Nueva side is a 19th-century extension.
A 16th-century Sevillian mansion in the Santa Cruz quarter, arranged around a marble-columned patio and preserving Roman mosaic floors.
