You don’t need to worry about finding your way to a bus or train station since we will personally collect you at the start of the tour.

Our experienced drivers will ensure you enjoy the road up the mountain unstressed and will take you all the way to the entrance so you don’t have to walk uphill (admission to Montserrat Park is included in the price of the tour).  Prepare for great views of Catalunya!

You will also get a chance to visit the Cava country of Catalunya and learn about the secrets of this national drink (our version of the French Champagne). You’ll get a guided tour inside a local Cava producer (winery) and you will learn all about Cava making and get to taste it too!

Itinerary

  1. Cava Wine Country.

Cava is a sparkling wine from Spain, not a country. The primary region for its production is Catalonia, particularly the areas around the town of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and the Penedès region, often referred to as "Cava Country". It's made using the traditional method, similar to French Champagne, but with indigenous Spanish grape varieties like Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel·lo.

    • Origin: The Cava D.O. (Denominación de Origen) encompasses vineyards in several areas of Spain, with over 95% of production originating from the region of Comtats de Barcelona in Catalonia.
    • Production: The traditional method involves a second fermentation in the bottle to create the bubbles.
    • History: The first bottles of Cava were produced in 1872.
    • Grape Varieties: Key grapes include Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel·lo, which give Cava its unique flavor profile.
    • "Cava Country": This term often refers to the Penedès region within Catalonia, known for its Mediterranean climate and numerous Cava producers.
    • Quality: Cava can range from light and fresh to complex and rich, depending on the aging process and grapes used. Some producers have opted out of the D.O. to create wines under different brands, such as Clàssic Penedès.
  2. Monserrat Mountain.

The Serrated Mountain, or The Montserrat Mountain, a multi-peaked mountain range in catalonia, Spain,  a multi-peaked mountain range in Catalonia, Spain, is famous for its distinctive saw-like rock formations. It is a significant cultural and spiritual landmark, home to the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey. The mountain is situated about 30 miles northwest of Barcelona and is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. Its striking pink rock is a type of sedimentary rock known as conglomerate, composed of rounded stones cemented together over millions of years.  The mountain is home to the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat. Founded in 1025, it is a major site of pilgrimage.
