The Plaza del Arenal is the starting point, the wide open square at the centre of Jerez de la Frontera, and the route leaves it almost immediately for the older streets. It goes by the Palacio del Virrey Laserna and up to the Plaza de la Asunción, then bends back towards the Alameda Vieja. This is an outdoor escape game, played across the town at walking pace.

Teams are two to five people with one phone, and every player holds a character with their own responsibility in the mission, so the group solves things together or not at all. Families, friends, couples and work groups all play it. Jerez de la Frontera is flat and the historic centre is small, but the streets bend and change name often enough that reading the map is part of the challenge. More than five means two or more teams. Nobody guides you and no start time is imposed.

In Jerez de la Frontera the start is a matter of four steps.

How to play

  1. Book the City Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

The stolen formulas are with Magnus, and the syndicate has put you on his trail. That means codes to break, riddles to unpick and photo tasks to stage, shared out among the characters your team is playing. Part of the search sits near the Iglesia de San Miguel, with the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Coronada further along the way.

Send more than one team out and the game turns competitive, which is why it works as a team building escape game for colleagues. You can pause at any point, take a long lunch and go back to it, finishing wherever the last clue drops you in Jerez de la Frontera.
