Itinerary

  1. Cruising Madrids´s Gran Via and Castellana.

Driving through Madrid's Gran Vía and Castellana is great for experiencing a contrast between the historic, bustling entertainment center of Gran Vía and the modern, financial district of Castellana. Gran Vía offers stunning Belle Époque and Art Deco architecture, iconic buildings, theaters, and a vibrant atmosphere, while Castellana showcases modern skyscrapers and serves as the city's financial heart. Driving provides a unique perspective of both the old and new faces of the city.

    Gran Vía

    • Architecture: Admire the impressive and historic architecture, from the Metropolis Building to Art Deco styles, often adorned with statues on the rooftops.
    • Nightlife and Entertainment: The street is known for its theaters, cinemas, shops, and restaurants, and it truly comes alive at night with illuminated signs and facades.
    • Vibrant Atmosphere: It's considered the "heart and soul" of Madrid, with a constant flow of people and energy.

    Paseo de la Castellana

    • Modern Skyline: Drive through this major avenue to see modern skyscrapers, including the Four Towers Business Area, which represents the financial side of the city.
    • Landmarks: It's home to important landmarks like Plaza de Colón and provides access to areas like the Riu Plaza España, which offers city views.
    • Commercial Hub: Castellana functions as a major commercial and business hub, showcasing the modern, business-focused side of Madrid.

Why are both great to drive

    • Contrast: Driving provides an easy way to see the stark but fascinating contrast between Madrid's historic core and its modern financial district.
    • Unique Perspective: A car offers a way to take in the sheer scale of both the historic buildings on Gran Vía and the modern towers on Castellana from a comfortable vantage point, especially at night when the city is beautifully lit.
  2. Plaza de Espana.

Plaza de España in Madrid is great for its central location, impressive architecture, and the prominent monument to writer Miguel de Cervantes. It features a large fountain, green spaces for relaxation, and is surrounded by historic buildings and skyscrapers. The plaza has also been transformed into a pedestrian-only area after recent renovations, making it ideal for walking and enjoying the atmosphere.

    • Monumento to Miguel de Cervantes: The plaza is centered around a large monument dedicated to the author, with statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
    • Surrounding buildings: Two prominent skyscrapers, the Edificio de España and Torre de Madrid, overlook the square, showcasing Madrid's architecture from different eras.
    • Recent renovation: The square was renovated and reopened in 2021, becoming a pedestrian-only zone with fountains and green areas.
  3. Madrid´s Puerta de Sol, and Puerta Alcala.

Puerta del Sol is great for its central location as the heart of Madrid, its historical and cultural significance, and its role as a New Year's Eve celebration hub. Puerta de Alcalá is a grand and historic neoclassical monument, famous for being a majestic former city gate and one of the first major triumphal arches built in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire.
